Down House, Hever Castle & Historic Dockyard Chatham .Whether you are a history buff, enjoy a good period dramaor like nothing better than exploring the narrow streets of our cathedral cities then thisis the tour for you. We include visits to Chatham Docks, Hever Castle and Down House.
Thursday: A morning departure travelling south to Kent arriving late afternoon at the Bridgewood Manor Hotel. Dinner in hotel.
Friday: After breakfast we make our way to the Historic Dockyard Chatham for a visit. With a history that spans from the Spanish Armada to the Falklands Crisis and more recently as a set for Call the Midwife. We continue for an afternoon visit to Rochester, famous for its links to Charles Dickens. Returning to our hotel. Dinner in hotel.
Saturday: After breakfast we make our way to the historic town Canterbury, with free time at leisure to explore the historic architecture. After lunch we have a visit to Tenterden Vineyard, home to the award winning Chapel Down Winery. Here you will have a guided tour with a tasting of the produce, returning to our hotel. Dinner in hotel.
Sunday: After breakfast we make our way for a morning visit to Down House, Charles Darwin’s home. See where he wrote ‘On the Origin of Species’ and stroll through the gardens that inspired the great man. After lunch we make our way for an afternoon visit to Hever Castle, the childhood home of Anne Boleyn. Returning to our hotel. Dinner in hotel.
Monday: After breakfast we make our journey home arriving at your agreed drop off point.
