The New Highlander Hotel, Newtonmore

The Hotel is based in the small village of Newtonmore nestled in the famous Spey Valley amid the splendour of the Monadhiath and Grampian mountains. All bedrooms are en-suite with TV, telephone, hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities. Free Wi-Fi in hotel lounge



SUNDAY: An early morning departure for your journey north on a scenic route to Scotland. Dinner in hotel.

MONDAY: After breakfast we travel to nearby Aviemore to board the Strathspey Steam Railway to Broomhill. We then continue back by road to Aviemore for a drive up the Cairngorms where you take a return ride on the Cairngorm funicular mountain railway, the UK’s longest funicular climbing over 100m above sea level. Returning to the hotel for dinner.

TUESDAY: After breakfast head to the ‘Capital of the Highlands’, Inverness where we will board the train to Kyle of Lochalsh, referred to by Michael Palin as one of the most outstanding railways journeys in the world. An area of outstanding natural beauty. Before continuing our journey by road on the coach offering you the chance to see different scenery returning to the hotel. Dinner in hotel.

WEDNESDAY: After breakfast a full day excursion including a one way journey on the’Jacobite’ Steam Train from Fort William to Mallaig (or vice-versa). Experience breathtaking views and magnificent scenery unseen from the road, opposite journey will be taken by Coach. (train included in price). Also will include a 1 hour Wildlife cruise in Mallaig. Then return to our hotel for dinner.

THURSDAY: After breakfast we take a circular drive through Pitlochry, Bridge of Cally over Glenshee through the Cairngorms National Park to Braemar and passing Cathie Church to Ballater returning via Tommy Tool and Granton on Spey. Dinner in Hotel.

FRIDAY: After breakfast take a scenic journey home arriving late afternoon, early evening.
