Mountain Top Safari, Dunrobin Castle, Dolphin Watch, Osprey & Otters
This not too strenuous wildlife packed holiday explores the natural beauty of the Scottish Highlands from a different viewpoint. This is an impressive wildlife holiday set in beautiful Highland countryside.
Sunday: An early morning departure for your scenic journey North arriving late afternoon at the Fishers Hotel, Pitlochry for dinner and overnight accommodation.
Monday: After breakfast a little time at leisure before you meet up with your kilted Mountain Safari Rangers. The 4×4’s will transport you in comfort and safety into Europe’s last unspoilt wilderness. You should wear suitable warm clothing and sturdy shoes or boots and arm yourself with a camera and binoculars to take in the breath taking mountain top scenery and experience the excitement of a four-wheel drive in a safe environment. Marvel at the scenery in a land steeped in history and breathtaking views with lots of photo opportunities. You may be lucky enough to see Majestic Red Deer, the famous Grouse, the elusive Mountain Hare and the soaring Golden Eagle, but most of the entire safari will provide a new insight into this amazing natural wilderness. You stop off in a mountain chalet for a “wee” dram of whisky. We continue onwards to Aviemore arriving late afternoon at the Macdonald Strathspey Hotel for 4 nights dinner, bed & breakfast. On arrival you will be served tea and shortbread. Dinner in hotel.
Tuesday: After breakfast we make our way to the Highland capital Inverness where you’ll have free time to explore before continuing onwards to the coastal Dunrobin Castle for a visit which has extensive gardens. Returning to our hotel. Dinner in hotel.
Wednesday: After breakfast we make our way to board the Strathspey steam train for a single journey travelling through the stunning Scottish Highlands. You’ll have free time in Grantown before continuing onwards to the Cairngorm National Park, near Aviemore where you’ll visit the reindeer paddock & exhibition. Returning to our hotel. Dinner in hotel.
Thursday: After breakfast we make our way along the Whisky Trail to Nairn for free time to explore the area before continuing onwards crossing the Kessock Bridge to join the Dolphin Spirit for a cruise into the Moray Firth to see the pod of resident dolphins. Returning to our hotel. Dinner in hotel.
Friday: After breakfast we make our journey home arriving at your agreed drop off point in the evening.
Each morning a knowledgeable guide will walk you to the hides, located only 400m from your hotel in Aviemore. Otters are a regular sighting and can be as close as 2 feet from the hides. The success rate of seeing Ospreys fishing and teaching their young is 99.2%. It is a magical wildlife experience observing these rare animals. Ospreys like to eat early! So a 4.30am start is required, tea & coffee is provided and you will be back in time for breakfast. Max 10 persons per day.
