Your holiday starts with a visit to the historical town of Kendal, with its castle ruins, quaint cobbled streets, antique shops & elephant yard shopping center. While here why not sample some of the famous ‘Kendal Mint Cake’, continuing on to our first night in the hotel.
Today we visit Bowness-on-Windermere, a bustling tourist hotspot with independent shops, interesting museums & plenty of places to eat. Returning to our hotel for dinner.
After breakfast, we journey up the coastline to take a ride on L’al Ratty – the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway. Enjoy a spectacular 7-mile journey through the picturesque Lake District scenery with Scarfell Pike England’s largest mountain as a spectacle background.
After our journey, we visit Muncaster Castle, Gardens, and Owl Sanctuary. We enjoy a 40-minute guided audio tour of the castle that is narrated by the Pennington Family who have lived in the castle for over 800 years. Within the grounds, there is a tranquil garden to explore and an Owl centre where you can watch spectacular flying displays. Returning to hotel for dinner.
Today we head to Grasmere, the village known best for its famous Gingerbread! After enjoying free time here, we travel the short distance to Ambleside for time to explore this picturesque town with its wide variety of independent stores, museums, and cafes. Later we return via a stop in Ulverston, birthplace of Stan Laurel. Dinner in the hotel.

The Dunes Hotel is located in the South Lakes close to the town of Barrow-in-Furness. Glass-fronted lounge areas offer panoramic views across the estuary. All bedrooms are ensuite with television and tea & coffee-making facilities. The hotel has a lift.
